HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A woman was taken to hospital after being injured following a shooting with an uninvited man inside her apartment on Saturday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the shooting took place in the 12700 block of FM 1960 and the woman’s daughter was inside the apartment when the shooting happened.

The 30-year-old told deputies a man broke into her flat and shot her in the lower abdomen. She was taken to Ben Taub Hospital.

During the inquest, deputies said the alleged shooter was dropped off by another person at North Cypress Hospital with a gunshot wound to his back. The suspected shooter was airlifted to the Hermann Memorial and deputies believe he is linked to the home invasion.

The 9-year-old girl who was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting was reportedly in high spirits and eager to see her mother.

“She was unharmed. She didn’t see anything that happened. She saw her mother running into a room, grabbing her gun, and the little girl went to hide under the bathroom sink. She heard gunshots, went out to see her mother, and found her mother lying on the ground bleeding. She ran to the door, locked the door and called 911,” said Sgt. says John Klafka.

It is not known if the suspect and victim are related. Both are listed in fair condition and should be fine.

Deputies say there are no witnesses and no surveillance cameras at the compound.
