BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Someone recently broke into a rent deposit box at an apartment building in Bloomfield, which was subsequently missing dozens of checks, police said Tuesday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to Forest Hill Properties on Davey Street on Nov. 4 after receiving a report of a robbery.

According to the building manager, the rent deposit box that is locked outside the building was broken into and left open, police said.

About 50 checks were missing from the box at the time of the report. An investigation is continuing, police said.
