A Columbus developer plans to build a 14-story apartment building on North High Street Downtown, near East Gay Street, as part of its larger plan to renovate the stretch that includes the former Madison department store and buildings White-Haines.

The building would stand on vacant land at 100 N. High St. immediately north of the White-Haines Building. It would include 152 apartments on six parking levels (one in the basement) accessible from North Pearl Street at the back. The first floor would include a lobby and restaurant while a lounge, fitness center and swimming pool would sit on the roof.

The apartments would largely be one and two bedroom with around 16 Zen studios.

Designed by architectural firm Meyers + Associates, the new building would mimic the grid found on the White-Haines and other downtown buildings.

Eclipse Real Estate offers a 14 story apartment building, parking lot and restaurant on vacant lot on N. High Street adjacent to the White-Haines building, immediately to the right in this rendering.

The tower is being offered by Eclipse Real Estate, a division of Edwards Cos., Which has started renovating the long-closed White-Haines and Madison buildings to the south.

The stretch is part of Edwards’ ambitious plans to redevelop much of the North High Street / Gay Street neighborhood and other parts of the city center.

The company has already redeveloped the Citizens Bank building and constructed The Nicholas apartment and retail building just across High Street from the proposed tower. He also plans to convert the former Brioso Coffee space on the northeast corner of High and Gay into a French bistro.

The company is due to present its plans for 100 N. High St. to the downtown commission on Tuesday.
