DUNWOODY, Ga. (AP) – An explosion rocked an apartment building in suburban Atlanta on Sunday, leaving the three-story complex unstable and injuring at least one person, authorities said.
Dunwoody Deputy Fire Chief Melvin Carter said the cause of the blast was unknown, but Atlanta Gas received a call from a strong-smelling resident shortly before the mid-air blast. ‘afternoon. A slightly injured person was taken to hospital for treatment.
Carter said 90% of the building had been searched and authorities were consolidating the rest of the complex so rescuers could continue to search for anyone who might be trapped inside. He said there were reports of two people missing.

“It is a very active scene and the cause of the explosion is under investigation,” police wrote.
Eboni Thornton told WSB-TV that she was in a moving truck outside the building when she felt something had fallen on the vehicle. She said the whole vehicle shook. She was shocked by what she saw as she got out of the truck.
“The rental office collapsed on the left side, the double doors were blown out and I could hear a lady scream with her head held high,” Thornton said.
Thornton said he saw a few people limping and bleeding and being carried out of the rubble.
Police said they were working with the fire department to determine the cause of the explosion. They asked residents of the complex not affected by the explosion to stay in their apartments.
Dunwoody is a suburb just north of Atlanta.
