Authorities say a Fargo police officer shot and killed a man Friday after authorities responded to a call, about two people collapsed into a van that turned out to be stolen.
Police say the 28-year-old Jamestown man was shot after driving the van out of a garage at an apartment complex.
He died in hospital a few hours after the shooting.
The officer, an 11-year veteran of the force, has been placed on paid administrative leave while the case is reviewed by the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Another man was arrested at the scene after ignoring officers’ orders and found to have methamphetamine.
A third person in the van fled.

Authorities say a Fargo police officer shot a person after law enforcement responded to a call about two people collapsed in a van that turned out to be stolen.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was shot by an officer on Friday morning after exiting a garage at an apartment complex and is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
A second man was arrested at the scene.
Police Chief Dave Zibolski said a third man who was in the van fled the area and police are looking for him.
The van had been reported stolen in Fargo earlier this week.
The officer was placed on administrative duty, which is standard protocol in police-involved shootings.
